Comments:
Monical says varnish technique is basis for attribution to Goffriller (in conversation with TGM, 8/92). His written description says male head is French, c. 1850, and M. Albani label is a reproduction. 2-piece table with rosette, 2-piece back with thin center strip of ebony, ribs likewise (i.e., with horizontal dividing line). Back mostly quarter-cut, but becomes slab-cut near bottom block; no purfling. New neck by Monical, c. 1992 (body seen 8/92 in his shop without neck). Tailgut.
