Montagu 1990: “a William Turner treble viol, catalogued as 1646 but with a label which clearly said 1656, and which had been turned into a viola, then restrung with six strings and generally messed around.” (Sold in 1991 for £7,150.) Heart-shaped parchment rosette. Diamond designs on back: below fold, middle, and bottom; second fold in lower bout. Neck and head modern. Fleming 2001: 2-piece table; dimensions 40.3, 19.7/14.6/24.0, 6.4, - (Vázquez’s taken on back?). (Single purfling front and back, not original.)
