Comments:

3-piece back with uniquely elaborate carving on joints, similar to Lewis; extensive purfling designs also on ribs. Napper 1995 says restored by Hill’s in 1985; Napper to TGM says restored by Monical in 1995 (Monical has documentation). Nakashima 1993 says “originally presented to Arcangelo Corelli”; Napper to TGM reports 2nd label reads “Archangelus Corellius de Fusignano dictus Bononiensis” (Both labels hard to read due to water damage.) Additional recordings on ATMA, Erato, EMI, Naxos. Table ornament Type VI, back center BN monogram, upper Type IIIa, lower Type III.
