Comments:
Martius 2015: table with narrow single purfling and high arching without recurve; soundholes, rosette, and interior construction suggest body is by Martin Hoffmann, with later conversion to 7 strings in French style; all fittings 20th-C. (including ebony fingerboard and tailpiece), with neck attached to remains of original through-neck. Back widths 32.0/21.9/39.7. Drescher 1990: Definitely not by Alletsee (label is fake). Rosette in table has 4 levels. Pegbox has carved back (lyre and woodwinds) and sides (foliage); appearance suggests French style, but done in 19C. Fingerboard and tailpiece new, of massive ebony. Two crossbars above and one below soundpost plate. Body in bad condition. Dimensions 68.0, 31.9/22.9/39.6, 13.0, 70.0. (Museum dimensions 71.2, 32/23/40, 13, -.
