Comments:

Martius JCH 34. Table with two unsymmetrical halves, medium arching, almost no recurve. Quite small corner blocks. Neck not original; pegbox box old but does not belong to body, with plain back and sides and plugged seventh hole. Head not originally made for a musical instrument (perhaps for a chair arm?), of walnut with later gilding. All fittings from 20th C. Back widths 30.8/21.9/38.7. Owner’s dimensions 69.0, 31.5/22.8/38.8, 12.4, 69.5. Mueller: restored by W.E. Hill & Sons; no purfling on back; pegbox and [French] head are 18th-C.; fingerboard and tailpiece also not original; dimensions 69.0, 31.2/-/38.8, 12.5, 69.3.
