Comments:

Hsu (personal communication to TGM): neck by Monical c. 1985; previously had cello neck with original pegbox; owned by NY Philharmonic cellist Heinrich Joachim. Monical 1989: built without a mold; body model and C holes very French in style. Bass bar, neck, fingerboard, tailpiece, pegs not original. Had 7 strings while owned by Hsu and Fuller, but now only 6 (conversion by S. Peck). Jacquot 1900, no. 99: “Basse de viole de Francesco Rugger, 1697. M. Ad-Ernest Gand, à Paris.”
