Comments:
Martius MH 13. Leonard & Martius 1990: “Zuschreibung fraglich,” but by 5/06 Martius considered it authentic. Restored by John Topham, 1991-93. Topham 1993: neck, head, rosette, fingerboard and tailpiece are new; edges much restored; had many cracks with poor earlier repairs. New head and rosette copied from J.C. Hoffmann in Bachhaus, Eisenach. Martius 2015: Table with double purfling and replacement rosette (after MH 3); back with remains of painted purfling and 3 crossbars in addition to soundpost plate; bottom block not original. Originally had a through-neck, of which only the foot remains. Attribution based on great similarity to MH 2 and 3, both dated 1688. String length 63-64, not original.
