Comments:

Sharply sloping shoulders, table smaller than back in upper bout. Hopfner 2006: body outline and neck setting and length original; ribs original, with significant worm damage Hopfner 2008: dendro date by P. Klein (1988) was 1575, but now revised to 1403 by M. Beuting (2007). Restored in 1910 by Alfred Coletti (not by Karl Haudek, c. 1901), including back veneered with bird’s-eye maple (due to worm damage) and purfling added to table. Carter 2006: back not original, soundpost and bass bar likewise, but museum considers neck to be original. Estimated SL “? 72”. Moens 1989: earliest possible date for table is 1580 (based on dendrochronology [by P. Klein]); back “probably much younger;” neck probably not original. Edmunds 1994: wood very similar to C77—probably part of same set; date 1560-80, SL 72. Thorby 2018: label not original. Only Woodfield 1984, p. 130 and Hopfner 2008 call this a bass, others say tenor. Edmunds 1980 dimensions 57, 29.5/-/32.0, -, 72?
