Hellwig 2011, TieWV 025; Hellwig 1980, no. 047 (not seen by him; info from Friedrich Ernst, Berlin). Date c. 1689. 3-piece back (arched) with glued-on carved ornaments at top and bottom. Peg for top string is closest to nut. Neck, fingerboard, and tailpiece not original. Dimensions 67.0, 31.0/-/38.0, -, -. Hellwig 2011 adds: Revised date, clearly 1683 on label. 4-piece table (two narrow center strips and 2 wider outer ones) with ebony/ivory edging, double purfling, and rosette. Moor’s head; peg for top string is closest to nut; neck by Reinhard Fischer (Hamburg, 1995), replacing non-original one; also revarnished by him, using historical recipes. Back widths 30.4/22.7/37.6. Did not sell at Sotheby’s, 1993 (their string length 61.0); acquired by present owner in 1994. Earliest example (together with TieWV 23-24 of same year) of an arched back and glued-on carved ornaments.
