Comments:
Tourin: Tielke-style head and pegbox carving; new neck with graft. No purfling on table or back. Outside part of both C-holes completely rebuilt. Geometric decoration on fingerboard and tailpiece (black-and-white rhomboids) suggest cut down for cello, then rewidened. Very poor condition. Dimensions 69.0, 30.5/21.7/35.6, 12.3, 68.8? Photos: rosette (half hidden), very narrow soundholes. Attribution to Karpp by A. Otterstedt (to TGM 6/05), citing “The head, structure of the peg box, the body apparently birch with the flames going upward, soundholes wide apart, carvings at the [neck] heel...the typical Karpp undercuttings of the soundholes.” But fingerboard perhaps lengthened, and tailpiece perhaps not original.
