Tourin: 2-piece table with ebony and ivory edge, 2-piece back, both with single purfling; tailgut now and never had hookbar; very large top block; dimensions 67.2, 31.4/23.0/38.0, 11.6, 67.2. Museum to TGM, 4/04: was in cello form in 1848; rebuilt by Nils Nilsson, Malmö in 1900, using an old viol neck provided by Carl Claudius. Photos: brown edge to fingerboard and tailpiece; body and head very plain. Gartrell 2003, p. 123, includes as a baryton, noting it was “converted first to a cello and subsequently recontructed as a viola da gamba in 1914.” Repair label “N. Nilsson Malmö 1914” [but museum says this date wrong]; dimensions: 123, 69.5, 31/22.4/37.8, 11.7, 67. Website string length 66.0-68.0.
