Comments:

Hellwig 2011, TieWV 112 (viola d’amore); Hellwig 1980, no. 098 (“viola d’amore (?)”). Köpp 2003: less certainly a viola d’amore than the 4 smaller examples by Tielke. Hellwig 1980: 2-piece table with ivory edging and double purfling; 2-piece back (arched and bent) with ivory edging and single purfling; ribs with ivory edging at corners and neck foot. Head, neck, fingerboard and tailpiece, and pegs not original. 2 pegs treble, 3 bass side. Restored by Günter Hellwig, 1957 (dimensions from his report, also in Hellwig 1980: 39.5, 18.6/13.3/23.2, 5.8?, -): had been converted to a viola (neck probably early 19th century, by same person who did museum’s M225; fingerboard and pegs later). Bass bar, soundpost, and hookbar also new; carved head done after photos of those in Dortmund and Leipzig. Hellwig 2011: back widths 18.6/13.2/23.1. Tourin: arm viol (but not seen).
