Comments:

Restored in 1970 by Jörn Erichson, Kassel: new table (old one kept, seen by Otterstedt: 3-piece, with 5-part purfling), fingerboard and tailpiece. Back and ribs are birch, also the lion’s head. Otterstedt’s dimensions: 67.6, 31.4/22.5/37.8, -, -. Owner says brother instrument in Berlin collection, also that G. Hellwig “said there was no doubt that this viol was made by Gregory Karp in Königsberg anno 1696.” [But “no label inside” so how is date known, or is it just circa?]
