Comments:

Arched back of 17 staves of walnut separated by thin ivory stripes; elaborately inlaid with black-and-white patterns of ebony, ivory, and mother of pearl on ribs, back of neck, and pegbox. Table and back with triple purfling; elaborate rosette in table. Neck long enough for 9 frets. Probably originally 6 strings, but 7th added during construction; 7 ivory pegs are contemporary with instrument. Bridge possibly original. Restored after 1967 under supervision of Rudolf Reuter. Vermütlich ist sie unter dem Einfluß des bedeutenden Gambisten Johann Schenk entstanden....)
