Hellwig 2011, TieWV 060; Hellwig 1980, no. 055. 2-piece table with ivory edging (partly missing), double purfling, and rosette (not original); 1-piece back (flat with fold) and ribs of bird’s-eye maple. Head, neck, fingerboard and tailpiece not original; dimensions 64.5, 28.2/20.5/35.2, 12.4, -. Pollens 1980, Monical 1979: Tielke School, Germany, 1Q18C (1989 ed.: c. 1720) ; converted to 3/4-size cello in 19th C.; restored in 1938; dimensions 64.7, 29.1/22.3/36.2, 11.9, 60.3. Muesum website: School of Tielke, ca. 1720; string length 61.0 (other measurements identical to above). Hellwig 2011 adds: 3-piece table with unusually high arching; back has small wings about 3 cm wide in lower bouts; dendrochoronolgy (P. Klein, 1987) gives date of 1675 for youngest growth ring on (treble side of) table. Back widths 29.9/20.6/35.3. Label appears to have been washed and reglued in place; neck, pegbox, and lion’s head probably late 19C Vogtland work.
