Comments:
Waterhouse 1998/2010: 2-piece back with double purfling; 1-piece table [sic, but see below], pufling not mentioned. Geometric purfling on ribs; tailpiece inlaid with butterflies, birds, and flowers; carved foliage on pegbox; boxwood pegs. Hebbert: 3-piece table; neck not original but fingerboard is. (Presumably in Bevan as 1 of 2 anon. division viols.) NB dimensions probably taken on back, with rib height including thickness of table and back. Repaired in 1971 by David Rubio, 2009 by Roger Rose. Drawing by Michael Goater was available from the VdGS Administrator in 1989 (see Chelys 18:40). Table ornament Type V, back center BN monogram, upper Type IIIa, lower Type III; also ornamented ribs.
