Comments:

Very angular upper bouts with steeply sloping shoulders. Baines 1966, p. 18: bevelled flush edges, flat back; body length 66, max. width 37. Moens 1995, p. 233: label manifestly false, with date 1623. Body shape similar to BRUS 37 (no. 1429). Torres: carving on back of pegbox includes a lute, 2 wind instruments, and the date 1643. Tourin: varnish is dark brown, ugly; “P. Torres thinks it’s [by] Leopoldo Franciolini, c. 1910.”
