Comments:
Restored for Alfred Lessing by Günther Hellwig. 2-piece table and back, both with single purfling; La Fille style decoration on pegbox sides and back, original neck, horizontal white strip (bone or ivory?) at lower end of fingerboard and upper end of tailpiece (latter by Hellwig, as is hookbar). No corner blocks, only linen. TGM @ BEMF 6/17: first two digits of date smudged, last two still very clear. Played as a pardessus on Eckert 2002 and 2021; former gives date as 1748 but latter says “ca. 1740”.
