Comments:

Blagodatov 1972: Very similar to Tielke. Arched back with raised carving down center. Ivory binding on table, back, and rib corners. Neck and (inlaid) fingerboard have been narrowed. Tourin: neck not original; dimensions 68.2, 30.3/22.2/37.8, 13.9, 64.0. Hellwig 2011: 2-piece table and back, both with ivory edging, then strip of light-colored wood, then painted “purfling”; 2-piece back (arched), with glued-on carved ornaments: top and bottom = acanthus motives, middle = sea godess in a chariot (facing toward neck), similar to TieWV 34. Neck original, slightly narrowed for use as a cello; inlaid fingerboard (ivory and mother of pearl in tortoiseshell veneer); pegbox (with open-carved back) and head stylistically very similar to Tielke’s work: “dieses Instrument kann als Schlüsselwerk für die Annahme gelten, dass Goldt die Wekstatt Tielke weitergeführt hat.” 7th peg hole added, then closed up. Back widths 29.9/21.8/37.5. Dendrochronology (M. Beuting, 2009) gives dates of 1721 (treble), 1724 (bass) for youngest growth rings on table.
