Comments:

Moens 1994: original neck; carved head similar to Rombouts bass, Hague 410. Kinsky 1912 gives date as 1723 but reproduces label with final digit looking clearly like a 9 (and Lütgendorff says, s.v Rombouts, “Eine Diskant-Gamba von 1729 besitzt W. Heyers Musikhistorisches Museum in Köln”). Tourin’s notes say “we read 1720”; also, “seems completely original,” including neck; table has wide single purfling with raised ridge at edge; “some wood linings and corner blocks, but one corner is linen”; one main brace. König 1985: great resemblance to pardessus by Bertrand.
