Comments:
Currently a lira da gamba, which is what Kinsky and Lütgendorff call it. (Kinsky: c. 1612)Had been converted into a cello: pegbox and tailpiece are replacements. Herzog 2003 dimensions (from museum): 62.3, 33.5/23.6/42.1, 12.5, -. Has external wooden linings; “El Greco” type ridges on table near corners; rosette; double purfling on table and back plus single line of maple inlay along back center joint. Kinsky (and Vannes): very similar to no. 782 [= LEIPB 47] by Antonius Brensius.
