Comments:

5-piece table. With original case. Gétreau 1988: Original fittings except hookbar and bridge (and 2 pegs). Tailpiece (veneered in ebony, like fingerboard) has second set of 5 holes, farther from bridge and more crudely drilled than main set of 6. Purfling (BWBWB) on table only. Gétreau 1988 + 2001: dimensions 60.0, 31.4, 15.5/ - /18.2, 6.8, 31.5. Gétreau 2001: found by Batt in a very pure state, but in poor condition; restored by Pierre Abondance in 1975 (including new material for edges of table and parts of ribs, repair of worm damage and cracks). Signature identical to that on at least 5 guitars dating between 1697 and 1730. Auctioned at Hôtel Druot, Paris, 6/10/98, lot 115. Stylistically close to Bertrand. On display 8/02: small C-holes. Batt purchased in Perigord in mid-1970s (F. Khazine, 8/02). Museum’s dimensions: 31.4, 15.5/-/18.2, -, -.
