Comments:
Rosette. Label hard to read according to Lütgendorff; “ergänzt” according to Kinsky, who read surname as “Meinel”; De Wit gives “Menel”; no name in Schultz; Tourin: Meyer; probably recte “Mener” (but Köpp 2000: Meyer). No place name on label; Kinsky adds “(in Klingenthal)” with no explanation, but perhaps instead a sister instrument to STOCK 6 by “Christof Meyer in Danzig 1685”. Tourin: double purfling on front and 1-piece back, C holes lack top eye, rosette; neck probably original; ribs “not very deep”, arm viol. Kinsky 1912: “Diskant-viola da braccio”.
