Comments:

Bird’s-eye maple back and ribs; rosette. Ivory pegs, blindfolded carved head (”wie bei vielen Violes d’amour”). South-German (Bavarian) work from 18th C. Converted to a violin (but photo shows 6-string setup): neck, ivory-inlaid fingerboard, and tailpiece not original. Kinsky 1912: “Diskant-Viola da braccio”. Lost since World War II.
