Baines 1966, p. 18, says back and sides are of figured sycamore (Kinsky: Ahornholz); body length 46. Body shape: has 4 sharply pointed corners, plus 1 dimple in each upper bout, 2 in each lower. Lütgendorff 1922: “fünfsaitige Viola (Quinton); Kinsky 1912: “Große Alt-Viola da braccio,” pegbox with gilded carvings and polychrome carved head; De Witt 1903: “Fünfsaitige Viole” with different color varnish on table than on back and ribs. TGM: viola d’amore?
