Comments:
Not in Senn & Roy 1986. Hammerich: strong and careful construction, beautiful wood and excellent varnish; fingerboard and tailpiece inlaid with striped wood; suggests low G tuning. Repaired by E. Hjorth, Kopenhagen, 1901. Tourin’s dimensions (“rough”): 87.0, 38.0/28.7/49.0, 18.4, 84.0; shape “big, with bold curves”. T. Muthesius to TGM, 4/13: “I am quite convinced it is from the same workshop as the other Stainers ... the same neck construction and the same template for the C holes....” Museum’s data sheet dimensions 86.0, -/-/50.0, 18.0, 84.0; online data sheet by Christian Laborie (2003) 86.7, 37.8/28.1/48.8, 17.8, 84?; back widths 38.3/27.8/49.1; purfling of ebony and maple; neck not original (grafted) but lion head is.
