Comments:

Hellwig 2011, TieWV 095; Hellwig 1980, no. 084. 2-piece table with sickle-shaped soundholes, ivory edging, and double purfling (outer row missing in places); 2-piece back (arched and bent); treble side ribs not original. Pegbox with open-carved back; neck, fingerboard, tailpiece, and pegs not original. Tourin: 2-piece table with single purfling, 2-piece back with none. Repair label: “Repareret af Instrumentmager / Th. Jacobsen, Kjobenhavn, 1848” [handwritten]. Dimensions 65.5, 29.8/21.4/37.4. 12.2, -. Hellwig 2011 adds: pegbox with open-carved back is unusually narrow, unskillfully grafted to new neck; peg for top string is closest to nut; no mention of ivory edging or replacement ribs. Back widths 29.8/21.8/37.1. Unsigned announcement of new acquisitions within the past year by the Copenhagen museum (in “Notizen,” in Zeitschrift der Internationalen Musikgesellschaft 6 (1904-05), 261) includes this one, with the comment, “Schönes Exemplar.”
