Comments:
Hellwig 2011, TieWV 102; Hellwig 1980, no. 090. 2-piece table with sickle-shaped soundholes, ivory edging (added by Hjorth), and double purfling; arched back. Remains of original neck used as basis for length of replacement; fingerboard, tailpiece, and pegs not original. (Repaired by E. Hjorth, Kopenhagen, 1899; restored by J. Erichson, Kassel, 1968--but no labels?). Date c. 1696. Dimensions 59.0, 27.2/20.0/33.5, 11.5, 61.3. Hellwig 2011 adds: bass bar (with horizontal growth rings) probably original; 2-piece back; worm damage to lion head. Back widths 26.8/19.7/33.2. Ivory edging added to table by Hjorth in 1899; restored by Erichson in 1970s. Neck not original. One of half a dozen unusually small instruments, perhaps made for use at high pitch.
