Skjerne 1931: “Alt viola da gamba,” Brescian, c. 1550 (“typical Brescian varnish”); arched back. Tourin: treble; dimensions “rough”. Shape “wavy, with one corner” (= upper pair); overhanging edges, high arching, rosette, hookbar; scrolls instead of ears on carved head. (W. Monical to TGM, 7/15: unlikely to have been made much before the 1690s, and most probably German.)
