Comments:
Soundholes are backwards Cs, very close together. Geometric ornamentation at top and bottom of back, which is arched and not folded. Neck, pegbox, scroll, and fingerboard by H. Munzberg, c. 1977, reversing a cello conversion; based on a sister instrument in Bologna. Found by S. Jones in an antique store in New York City. TGM: decoration at top and bottom of back very similar (but not identical) to BOLOG 1, labeled “Antonius Bononiensis.” Grappello documented as a maestro da istromenti in Ferrara in 1566.
