Comments:

Not in museum at time of Tourin’s visit, 10/78. Martius & Schulze 1991: double purfling on table, overhanging edges front and back, neck not original; information from the museum and a postcard photo. Dimensions (from museum + postcard, evidently only to nearest 0.5 cm) 89.0, 44.0/29.0/50.0, 19.5, 87.5. Museum checklist photo also gives body length as 87.5; shows wooden endpin; says wood is walnut or chestnut. Martius & Schulze: label is handwritten (but Huwyler’s photo proves it’s printed) with date of 1615 (not visible in photo, and too early: Busch only active from 1622), but his authorship is believable. Huwyler back widths 43.8/30.0/49.6.
