Comments:
Galpin 1951: “Division viol.” Dimensions from J. Kraft’s drawing, so not over arching. Small table ornament; decorations on 2-piece back include double ovals at bottom and fold, plus four overlapping rectangles making a diamond in the center; perimeter purfling single on back (separate tracks above and below fold), double on front. Has a label but it’s hard to read. P. Adler: “D’après Reichlin l’instrument aurait été découvert et restauré par Arnold Dolmetsch”; also says that, after a brief examination, D. Kessler told him the lion head was not original but rather Tyrolean.
