Originally a viola d’amore, converted to a small viola probably in 1860s, including new neck and cut-down ribs. Rosette. Breidert & Freyse 1964: Viola, Ehemalige Diskant-Viola-da-gamba; Heyde 1976: Bratschierte Viola d’amore; only body and pegbox original; ribs shortened and back fold eliminated.
