Comments:

Neck and pegbox almost certainly original; in 1992, pegbox cracked (so pegs wouldn’t hold), but by 2008 had been repaired by Petr Vavrous (Prague). No decoration on table or back, unlike other Turner trebles. Bridge by Kessler (in 1992). Fleming 2001: 7-piece table; single purfling front and back; dimensions 40.0, 18.4/13.5/23.1, 6.6, -. Neck and head made of beech, possibly original. Caldwell 2012: varnish too dark to tell if table has 5 or 7 pieces; perimeter “purfling” has 2 scribed lines with ink between; back similar except a groove between the lines is filled with (?) mixture of glue and ink. Flat-sided scroll on pegbox, which is integral with neck; both are original. Fingerboard and tailpiece old, hookbar not. Dimensions 40.0, 18.1/13.0/23.8, 6.5, 39.2.Pulver 1923 calls it a tenor and says he owns it, quoting label (but with spellings “hande” and “Crowne”), and giving dimensions in inches (back 16.5, “greatest breadth” 9, rib height 2.75; equates to 42, 23, and 7 cm).
