Comments:
Restored by Paul Reichlin, Zurich, including new back (found with non-original one) and enlarged table; single purfling on table, inked double lines on back. Head and pegbox are original, depicting a “noble savage” with a feathered cap, similar to costume designs for Rameau’s opera Les Indes Galantes. Pegbox with decorated back and sides; bridge by J. Caldwell; label now almost completely illegible. Tourin/JVdGSA dimensions: 130.0, 73.1, 33.5/22.1/38.7, 14.0, 72.0. Caldwell 2012 dimensions: 72.5, 32.8/21.6/38.9, 13.3, 70.6.
