Restored by William Monical, New York, 1981, including a new neck. Deep ribs, painted purfling on table, none on back. Scroll sides are black discs with ivory center button. Tourin/JVdGSA dimensions: 59.4, 31.9, 15.6/11.1/19.0, 7.0, 31.8; Caldwell 2012 dimensions: 31.6, 15.8/10.8/18./, 6.4, 32.0. When exhibited by Francais in 1971, described as “on loan [from a] private collection, New York. In its original condition.” (NB not owned by Francais himself, unlike e.g. a Salomon cello of 1745, “on loan [from the] Jacques Francais Collection, New York.”)
