Comments:

Converted to cello, probably in early 18C; restored as such by Pierre Bohr in 2020 (repair of many cracks, worm damage, etc., also new bridge and pegs); had been left open since previous incomplete resortation, probably in early 20C. Triple perimeter purfling on back (3, 5, and 3 tracks), also originally on fingerboard (with reverse colors) until narrowed; single on table (5 tracks). Upper block original, with 4 nail holes (2 still in use); bottom block not. Dendrochronology (credited to R. Hopfner: ?) dates youngest ring to 1484 with strong cross-matching to Linarol violone in Vienna (SAM 73), also dated 1585. Technical drawing by Mattia Cavazzana. Albini 1933 measurements: 76, 40/-/44, 14, -.
