Comments:
Back and ribs of burr elm, with second fold in lower back. Dendrochronolgy gives date of 1675 for youngest year ring, but table may be a later addition; cross matches with instruments by Hill, Banks, Forster, and others. Converted to a viola and heavily restored, so interior evidence doesn’t suggest any possible maker.
