Comments:
Converted to a viola, with scroll and pegbox reminiscent of early Hill work. 2-piece table with no purfling, 2-piece back with double purfling forming a V at the neck and ovals below fold and at bottom. Rib height at C-bouts, unaltered by conversion; original back folds at both top and bottom. Dendrochronological testing gives 1703 as date of youngest ring and cross-matches significantly with other viols by Norman, Lewis, and Jaye.
