Comments:
Original intact varnish, few signs of use; evidence of an early repair at base of neck. Initials N H surrounded by a decorative cartouche on the button, with the H altered to M; non-original label of Nicholas Médard. Pegs with ivory buttons probably original; also ebony-veneered fingerboard but not ebony tailpiece. (Harmand married in 1755, so probably born ≤ 1730; active until 1789.)
