Comments:
Pointed body corners but sloping shoulders; table and 3-piece back overhang striped ribs. Owner says much rebuilt; evidently from Switzerland, the Black Forest region, or Alsace (and/or “allgäuer”, “alemannische” or “sächsische”), c. 1680. Owner: “There are some dots on the [back of the] pegbox, which are known from other instruments too, but there is no name connected with them.” Converted to 7 strings (with tailgut) for current owner by Guust Francois, Amsterdam.
