Comments:
2-piece table and back. Neck, fingerboard, pegs, and pegbox not original, but scroll is. Currently a viol, but not rebuilt on historical principles; perhaps originally had fewer than 6 strings. Martius 2016: highest quality craftsmanship, in astonishingly good condition; fits well into output of Widhalm workshop in outline, soundholes, style and execution; “89” not in same hand as other Widhalm labels, and label itself is ususual in giving place name in Latin. (Martius to TGM 12/07: Widhalm died in 1776, but sons continued to use his label.)
