Comments:
Rosette with unusual tulip design; table arching now somewhat uneven, rising faster on treble side. No purfling on back, single on front; old rectangular patch on bass-side center bout. Lion head not original. No back braces except soundpost plate; parchment lining to back center joint; empty nail holes in top block. Restored by Walter Schmidt for current owner (new neck including added length to ribs on shoulders), who has also made a copy; two previous restorations for W. Gamerith (came to him with an old cello neck, now lost). Has been documented by Klaus Martius.
