Striped back (and presumably ribs); 2 pegs treble, 3 bass side. Sides of pegbox have unusual pattern of diagonal lines enclosing single dark dots. Phillips: “Quinton attributed to Louis Guersan in Paris, circa 1750”; dark stripes of rosewood, light of maple; double purfling on table, dimensions 34.5 (including button), 16.0/ - /20.0, 5.5, -. (Info on Dart’s ownership from his former student Greg Holt to TGM 8/12, confirming 1997 auction date and lot no.) Restored in 2000 by Fred Lindeman for Myrna Herzog, including a new neck; sold by her through Brompton’s (10/21/19, lot 134; catalogue not seen).
