Comments:
Had been converted to a cello. Neck and all fittings inside and out are new. 2-piece table with painted purfling (very near edge) and very high arching; 1-piece back and ribs of walnut. French-style neck with open-carved pegbox; head old but probably not original to this instrument. Repair inscription on upper bass rib: “Malotte [?] / 20.5.35 [?]” (Ruppert died in 1748.)
