Comments:
3-piece table and 3-piece back, both with double purfling. Back decoration has single ovals top and bottom, quatrefoil in middle. Rounded shoulders. Already had added 7th string by 1978, with pegbox extended and new outer facing but keeping original scroll; but fingerboard too narrow, so a wider one was made that extends slightly beyond the neck edges. Norde to TGM (2010) gives measurements and says “inside the body there are all kinds of lining. The round shoulders seem to be original.” Norde to Heale (1978) says “bought recently”; no crossbars on back; table reinforced; ribs not new, but perhaps not original either; “although many things have been tampered with, the instrument sounds excellent.” Table ornament Type IV, back center Type III, above and below Type I.
