2-piece table and back, both with a double line of inked purfling; semi-pointed corners. C-holes very vertical and placed high; current bridge marks are well below their middle. Ribs extend vertically from shoulders, with corresponding space under fingerboard filled with a block of wood. Neck angled back quite sharply. Tailpiece (using tailgut) appears modern; one peg does not match the other five. 2 additional crossbars on back are as flat as the soundpost plate. Evidence of various earlier internal repairs. (Sotheby’s: body length 53.6, string length 58.7.) Similar to instruments in Edinburgh, Copenhagen, and Ann Arbor.
