Comments:
Original inlaid fingerboard survives (with matching tailpiece) but was narrowed during cello conversion. Reconverted to viol before acquisition by present owner. Restoration by Münzberg, c. 2002: new neck and pegbox; head from an 18th-C. piece of furniture. 2-piece table with purfling and rosette, 2-piece back with no purfling except on center joint (added later). Rib heights differ on treble and bass sides, and are some 6% larger at bottom block than at C-bouts. Possible alternate attribution to Christa.
