Comments:
Black-and-white edging to table; soundholes very close to edge; 2-piece back of birch; no purfling front or back. Neck rather short, rounded, and angled back: not original (graft to pegbox); fingerboard has irregular light-and-dark pattern (white and 2 shades of brown, sometimes pointed-end segments, sometimes squared: composite?), tailpiece similar (but only 1 shade of brown). Hole has been drilled through hookbar for an endpin. Back braces above and below soundpost plate, plus flatter one at fold, and along center joint. Attribution by Wm. Monical based on similarity to Mothe 1735 bass in Lund, Sweden, illustrated in B. Nilsson, Svensk Fiolbyggar Konst (c. 1988), p. 37.
