Likely a converted viola d’amore: blindfolded Cupid head with traces of gold leaf; rosette. Announcement of Schuman’s donation of his collection to Southern Oregon U. (in Galpin Society Newsletter for Feb. 2008, p. 8) mentions this instrument, calling it a viola da braccio.
